Hi, I'm Han Yong

I've spent 14 years building the systems that keep global companies running. Networks, servers, clouds, security. Lately I've been building AI agents that make those systems run themselves.

My Story

I got into IT the way a lot of people do. I was curious how things worked, and I couldn't stop tinkering. My first real job was as a Resident Engineer at ServLink, seconded to Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank under HPE. I was 22, sitting in a trading floor environment where a five-minute outage was a big deal. That's where I learned what 99.99% uptime actually means. Not as a number. As a way of working.

After a few years in banking, I moved into systems engineering at CWT Globelink and Atos. I spent my days doing virtualization migrations, VDI rollouts, and managing Linux servers across 1,500+ VMs. It was hands-on, technical, and I loved it. I learned that great infrastructure is invisible. It just works. If you're doing it right, nobody notices.

At DB Schenker I stepped into country-level leadership for the first time. I was managing IT for 2,000+ employees and leading the IT/OT integration for a EUR 101M warehouse. That meant getting automated guided vehicles, robotic picking systems, and warehouse management software to talk to each other over a network that had to be bulletproof. That's where I learned that the best infrastructure decisions are business decisions first. You can't design a network without understanding how the warehouse actually runs.

SIPEF Group was a different kind of challenge. I was employee number one for IT infrastructure in Singapore, tasked with building a team and a technology foundation from scratch across 5 countries. No playbook. No existing systems. Just a mandate to make it work. I consolidated everything onto a single platform (OneMail, OneIdentity, OneNET) and started building AI agents in production. Six MCP agents later, we had cut manual tasks by 40% and incident response time by 60%. That was the moment I realized AI wasn't just a buzzword. It was a tool that could actually make my team's life easier.

Most recently at Keppel Ltd, I led the shared services strategy for infrastructure and network management, running a hybrid team of 40+ resources across multiple domains. It was a different scale of complexity, and it reinforced everything I'd learned about the importance of governance, budgeting, and service delivery.

My Approach

Build It Right the First Time

Good infrastructure is invisible. I design systems that are reliable, secure, and scalable so the business never has to think about them.

AI Is a Tool, Not a Magic Wand

I build AI agents that do real work. Diagnose an alert, escalate an incident, fix a config. Not because AI is trendy, but because it makes my team faster.

Lead Across Cultures

I've managed teams across Singapore, Belgium, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Ivory Coast. Technology is the same everywhere. People are not. That's the part worth getting right.

Beyond Work

When I'm not working, I'm usually tinkering with my home lab, reading about MCP and agentic AI, or thinking about what to build next. I never really switched off the engineering mindset.
